Momma Malory and the kittens went for their first check up today. Little Lana isn't gaining weight, even with the extra feedings so we were worried about her development.
It turned out that I had to say goodbye to my little Lana tonight. She was a fighter, but after running some tests we found that she had congenital defects in her heart, lungs, and kidneys. It's amazing that she made it past one week old, let alone to three weeks old. I got to hold her in my arms until she fell peacefully to sleep. I don't think I've ever cried as hard as I did tonight watching those little eyes close as she held my finger in her paws. I am thankful I got to meet her and love her even if only for a little while.
